About Us
This is a house built single-handedly by the father, supported by the whole family.
- Master Yang: A large wooden house carpenter, who started building the house alone at the age of 50 in 2000, spending 18 years to complete the main structure.
- Mrs. Yang: The owner and supervisor of the large wooden house, who has continuously provided Master Yang with three meals a day despite the difficult construction environment over the past 20 years.
- Oldest Daughter/Ji Shu: The operations coordinator of the large wooden house, who grew up watching her father build the house, with her own dreams intertwined with the house.
- Oldest Son-in-law/Yu Qian: The project coordinator of the large wooden house, with a love for his “wife” and “house,” who started by documenting Master Yang’s work and then learning about wooden construction, excelling in coordination and communication, hoping to one day take over and maintain this house.
- Youngest Daughter/Jing Wen & Youngest Son-in-law/Ting Ju: The cheerleaders living far away, who will act cute with Master Yang and drink with their daughter.
- In 2012, this house building project won the 9th edition of the Keep Walking Dream Funding Program.
- Since 2012, various reality documentary programs have featured interviews (e.g., TVBS/Step by Step, Public Television/Who Comes to Dinner, China Television News Magazine, etc.).
- In 2022, director/Su Yu Ting’s documentary about the house’s 20-year journey, “Family Tree,” was nominated for Best Documentary at the Busan Film Festival and received funding from the National Arts Council.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Today I participated in a guided tour of a large wooden house and gained a lot. Master Yang and his son-in-law took us carefully through the house, explaining the care and stories behind every corner. It turns out that traditional architecture hides so much wisdom and traces of life; I truly gained insight and felt very moved.

Having dreams is beautiful, and being able to realize one’s dreams is the best achievement one can give to oneself. Since 2004, I have been refining the details; the two-and-a-half-story wooden Japanese-style building was completed by Mr. Yang himself. The time, patience, and costs involved require the support and consensus of the family, creating a warm home filled with harmony. If you visit Pingtung, you must come to explore this large wooden house; it is worth savoring.

“A Family Outing” First reservation to visit the wooden construction house. The owner’s explanation was very warm, and I also visited the living space completed by Master Yang. I admire his persistence, determination to overcome obstacles, and the mutual support of his family. I can understand the “values” they are protecting and their way of life. Thank you for promoting wooden houses without reservation!
