About Us
This is a house built single-handedly by the father, supported by the whole family in the house-building project
- Master Yang: A master carpenter of large wooden houses, began building alone at the age of 50 in 2000, taking 18 years to complete the main structure
- Madam Yang: Owner and supervisor of the large wooden house, provided Master Yang with three meals a day in the challenging construction environment over 20 years
- Eldest Daughter/Season Shu: Operations coordinator of the large wooden house, grew up watching her father build, with her own dreams revolving around the house
- Eldest Son-in-law/Yu Qian: Construction coordinator of the large wooden house, with a love for “wife” and “house,” started by documenting Master Yang and then learning wooden construction, skilled in coordination and communication, hopes to maintain the house in the future
- Youngest Daughter/Jing Wen & Youngest Son-in-law/Ting Ju: Cheerleaders from afar, will act spoiled with Master Yang, and daughter who drinks
- In 2012, this house-building project won the 9th Keep Walking Dream Support Program
- Since 2012, featured in major reality documentary programs (TVBS/One Step at a Time, Public Television/Who’s Coming to Dinner, CTS News Magazine…etc.)
- In 2022, director/Su Yu Ting’s documentary on the 20-year history of the house “Family Tree” was nominated for the Busan Film Festival Best Documentary and received support from the National Culture and Arts Foundation

We offer you an in-depth full house tour, taking you to see the traces of 18 years of work from every corner inside the house, and touch the lime walls meticulously crafted by Master Yang himself. You will be able to closely observe how this house brings traditional craftsmanship to life again for sustainable heritage.
✅ Annual Building Image Presentation
We will showcase nearly 20 years of image records, taking you through the construction process of this house. From the foundational engineering to the beam-raising ceremony, and the interior water and electrical engineering, the challenges and breakthroughs encountered throughout this long process.
✅ One-to-One Mortise Introduction
Showcase the 1:1 tenon style used in houses, introducing you to the “tenon” and “mortise” techniques in superior craftsmanship. Explain how each piece of wood is meticulously calculated, mortised, and assembled without the use of nails and screws, creating a stable and durable structure.
✅ Communicate with Master Yang
Master Yang, the creator of this house, will share his experiences, motivations, and views on sustainable architecture with you. You will have the opportunity to ask him questions, exchange ideas, and draw inspiration from his stories full of passion and dedication.
[⁺ Eat Together]
Mrs. Yang said that every meal must have fish. In Fangliao, having one fish per person is the basic option. Depending on the seasonal main dish and the number of reservations, 5 to 8 dishes (or 1 dessert) are paired, or a few local Fangliao specialty dishes are randomly recommended and delivered to your dining table at home for everyone to enjoy together.

How is the cost calculated if 8 people book the [House Tour] and [⁺ Meal Together]?
The [House Tour] and [⁺ Meal Together] are charged separately
[House Tour] 2,400 (4 people) + (500 x 4 people) = 4,400
NT$2,400/per time/up to 1-4 people, for more than 4 people, 500 per additional person, up to 8 people
[⁺ Meal Together] 700 x 8 people = 5,600
NT$700/person x number of diners (up to 8 people)

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, and please note that you must remove your shoes at the entrance to protect the wooden floors.

The house is currently not open for stay, it is recommended to refer to local hotels in Fangliao/Fang Ke Wen Lu
